Israel bought 50 planes from Czechoslovakia in 1950 and decided to fly them directly to Israel. Three aircraft made it to Israel in the first Operation Velveeta and ten more made it in Operation Velveeta 2. Others crashed in route or were impounded by the Greek authorities in Cyprus.
