North American P-51D Mustang

The Museum's Mustang was built in 1945 and sent to the UK to join the Eighth Air Force. In 1947 it went to the Swedish Air Force, and then through several others until entering private ownership in 1972, being acquired by the Museum in 2004.

P-51D Mustang

The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is a U.S. long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II and the Korean War, among other conflicts. The P-51D was the premier American ground-based fighter of World War II.
