The orange "prickles" on the engine's exhaust manifold are flame baffles. Unlike the Halifax Mk.III that had its flame baffles on the outboard side of each engine nacelle, the Halifax Mk.VII's inner engines (#2 & #3) had the baffles on the inboard side - so you will only see the baffle for this Halifax's #1 port engine in this photo.

The Halifax Mk.VII was powered by four 1,615 hp (1,204 kW) Bristol Hercules XVI radial engines with three-bladed Rotol constant-speed, full-feathering propellers.
