Grumman TBM-3E Avenger

This Avenger made an emergency landing at Millville Municipal Airport (New Jersey) on March 7, 2009. The left wing burst into flames shortly after takeoff. The pilot, Terry Rush, made an emergency landing and jumped from the TBM Avenger while it was still moving. He was hospitalized with second and third-degree burns. The Avenger was completely destroyed.

This TBM-3E Avenger was owned by Tom Duffy and operated by Claire Aviation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It wears a beautiful three-tone 1944 Navy color scheme.
