Grunewald Station

The plaque reads: "October 18, 1941. In memory of the people deported from this train station."
There is no context for the date or what happened after people were "deported."

Grunewald Station

Contrast these nondescript words with the ones on the following pages. Here the plaque says absolutely nothing. People were deported - so what? This was the denial of the past. Today, the German people, for the most part, recognize what happened and chose not to forget.
