Grunewald Station

October 18, 1941 was the date of the first train carrying Jews to a concentration camp from this station.

Grunewald Station

This inconspicuous memorial preceded the Deutsche Bahn Platform 17 Memorial and went largely unnoticed by people passing by. Both the Bundesbahn and the Reichsbahn of the GDR failed to accept responsibility for their role in supporting Nazi crimes. This changed with reunification in 1990.
