Armored Car

Armored cars and tanks were World War 1 innovations that combined mobility and firepower. This car, one of eight purchased by Canada in August 1914, saw only limited duty during the long years of trench warfare. After mobility returned to the battlefield during the German March offensive of 1918, armored cars raced across the front providing vital fire support for retreating British forces. They proved less useful in the last Hundred Days, as Allied forces went on the attack, encountering blocked roads, demolished bridges, and fortified German positions.
