African Elephant

Elephants can reproduce starting at 13 to 20 years of age, but they rarely have more than 4 calves in a lifetime. They have the longest pregnancies of any animal - around 22 months. When the calf is born, it is about three feet tall and weights around 200 pounds. Elephants spend the longest time feeding from their mothers - the young are not weaned until 2-3 years old.
