No. 4800 was declared a national National Historic Mechanical  Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

No. 4800
Old Rivets

This is the prototype GG1 and was originally numbered 4899. It was built by GE in 1934. Still showing the rivets and characteristics of its original construction, this locomotive is currently in the Museum's outdoor yard awaiting funding for extensive restoration.
