Hawker Typhoon IB

This Typhoon IB is currently on loan from the Royal Air Force Museum in Hendon. It is the sole surviving complete and original example of the Typhoon. It was previously on display at the National Air and Space Museum in the U.S. before being presented to the RAF Museum in 1968 as a good will gesture celebrating the RAF’s 50th anniversary.

Hawker
Typhoon Mk.IB

The Hawker Typhoon was one of World War Two’s most potent ground attack planes. It was originally designed as a replacement for the Hurricane but failed in that role - mostly because it was rushed into service before the design bugs were worked out and engine teething troubles were corrected. But, the Typhoon did find its true element in the ground-attack role.
