Lockheed P-38J Lightning

Combat rarely occurred above 20,000 ft in the Pacific, and the engine and cockpit comfort problems common in Europe did not occur. The P-38's excellent range was used to full advantage above the vast expanses of water. America's two highest scoring aces both flew P-38s.
